The customer is a non-profit commercial development corporation within a large urban business corridor. Public safety is a paramount requirement for commercial business enterprises to ensure the safety of customers, citizens and visitors. In partnership with the municipal commerce department and police agency they created a initiative to install video surveillance cameras outside business to provide coverage of the public right-of-way. This is part of an overall city program to install security camera coverage to discourage crime and provide an additional tool for law enforcement. Such an effort has provided greater security for businesses and create an environment of safety to the commercial corridor.
The non-profit needed to engage a qualified solution provider to develop plans and equipment specifications to meet the City’s requirements. A key component of the initiative was to deal with a variety of technical and operational challenges with a very limited staff. PMG was selected to provide the services from conception to installation of 64 cameras at 25 business locations.
PMG proposed a video surveillance infrastructure and equipment that met and exceeded the City law enforcement requirements. The solution with a standardize installation model and project management services kept the project on schedule and within the funding goal.
PMG was successful in completing all the installations and managed the registration of each business with the law enforcement video surveillance Safe Street program. To meet some of the challenges of the individual stores, PMG used creative solutions to address issues of fields of view, power, and cabling to make the installations inconspicuous to the store and public right-of-way.
